About this budget sheet

Unlike the other printable templates on this site, this one isn't meant to print blank — type your actual income sources and expense categories, watch the totals and your net balance calculate as you go, and the printed page shows exactly what you've filled in, not an empty form. It works like a small calculator that happens to print cleanly: category and amount fields are ordinary editable fields on screen, but once printed, they read as plain filled-in text and numbers rather than obvious web-form boxes.

Both the income and expense sections start with a few common categories to save you typing, but every row can be renamed, removed, or added to freely — there's no fixed list and no limit on how many rows either section can have. The subtotal beneath each section updates immediately as you edit any amount, and the summary box at the bottom shows total income, total expenses, and the net figure: income minus expenses, shown in green for a surplus and red for a deficit, so it's obvious at a glance whether the numbers you've entered balance out.

Your entries are saved locally in your browser so the sheet is still there if you close the tab and come back, but nothing is ever uploaded anywhere — this is personal financial information, and it stays exactly that: personal, and local to your device. Use "Clear all & reset" if you want to wipe everything and start over with the default starter categories.

As with the other printable pages here, make sure your print dialog is set to 100% scale rather than "fit to page" for the cleanest result, though a budget sheet is more forgiving of small scaling differences than a precisely measured grid would be, since nothing here depends on exact physical spacing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculate totals automatically?

Yes. Total income, total expenses, and the net balance all update immediately as you type or edit any amount — no separate "calculate" step needed.

Will printing show a blank template or my actual numbers?

Your actual numbers. This tool is built to print exactly what you've entered, unlike the blank templates elsewhere on this site (like the habit tracker or to-do list), since a budget sheet without numbers on it isn't useful to anyone.

Can I add or remove income and expense categories?

Yes, freely. Use "+ Add income row" or "+ Add expense row" to add as many categories as you need, and the × button on any row to remove it.

Is my budget data saved anywhere?

It's saved locally in your browser only, so it's still there next time you visit, but it's never uploaded or sent anywhere. Use "Clear all & reset" to wipe it and start fresh.

What does the "Net" figure mean?

Total income minus total expenses. A positive net (shown in green) means your income covers your expenses with something left over; a negative net (shown in red) means expenses exceed income for what you've entered.
